Anxiety can be a normal part of life, never a pleasant feeling, but something that affects us all from time to time. However, for some people anxiety can become a crippling problem that stops them being able to live their lives.

What causes anxiety?

Anxiety is a physical and psychological reaction to stress. In the short-term it can be quite useful. It sharpens the brain, speeds up reactions and diverts resources away from hunger and pain into fight or flight responses. The problem arises when these reacts start to occur too often or persist throughout the day. This can them mean that you become so anxious that you are not able to cope with the day-to-day events of your life.
